Some players don't need vending machines?

I noticed that the top 5 players such as Eva and Tony do not have any vending machines in their cafes, and bc of this they are able to make room for more fun items. I was wondering how they are able to achieve this without bringing their score for vending machines down and maintain 5 stars? I thought it had to do with a Premium Item at first, but then I realized Eva doesn't have any Premium Items in her cafe. Thank you for any information!
